hour hand moves 1 degree, minute hand moves 12 degree.

i will analysis how many times do hour hand (HH) and minute hand (MH) of the clock superpose together within 12 hours, and when do them meet.

i have to stop here, because i don't know how to design the formulation to present the rule of the fingers' movement. but i do have a intuition that the fingers can not superpose together more than 11 times. because the MH moves 12 times faster than HH, so, if we premise the movement start at 12:00 or 0:00, there are no superposition occur in the first hour, the reason is the MH go ahead the HH all the time in this period of time.

assume it is 1:00 or 13:00, the MH is behind the HH, and the distance between them is 30 degrees. we don't know how many degrees does each of them move when they meet. but we do know that they use the same period of time when they meet. let us suppose that: MH moves X degrees and HH moves Y degrees within this period of time, and we already knew that HH has moved 30 degrees. we can get a equation that X=Y+30. we also knew the relationship between MH and HH is "hour hand move 1 degree when minute hand move 12 degree". this give us the other equation that X=12Y.

recapitulate the two equations, they are:
X=Y+30 and X=12Y

after accounting, we can get the result that X=32.72727273. that means MH will meet the HH after it moved 32.72727273 degrees. this used 5.454545 minutes (minute hand use 1 minute to move 6 degree).

in conclusion, the first meeting time of minute hand and hour hand is about 1:05 and 27.2727 seconds.

there are still 10 meeting of them after 1:00, the formulation for each hour is similar as the first hour. we only need to do is plus "30". there is the general formulation below:

X=Y+30(N-1) and X=12Y. "N" is the ordinal of hour, they are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.
